"The difference between a program that inspires and a system that develops is structure. HMI is built to develop, every step, every week, every athlete."
The process begins with a direct conversation - with Dr. Haughton or the National Program Director - to understand your institution's student-athlete population, current development gaps, and goals. This is not a sales call. It is a diagnostic conversation designed to determine whether HMI is the right fit for your program.
We finalize the engagement structure, session schedule, and program scope. You receive a formal Engagement Agreement outlining every deliverable, timeline, mentor assignment protocol, and expected outcome. No ambiguity. No surprises.
All participating student-athletes complete a validated pre-program assessment measuring baseline scores across seven psychological and leadership dimensions, including resilience, confidence, focus, accountability, and leadership identity. This establishes the foundation for measuring real development.
Student-athletes are organized into cohorts of 15 and assigned to a dedicated certified mentor. Mentors review participant profiles, understand individual backgrounds and challenges, and prepare their facilitation approach before the first session. The mentor-athlete relationship begins before the program does.
The program launches with a high-energy kickoff - either a live keynote from Dr. Haughton or a virtual opening event - that establishes the program's purpose, sets the standard for engagement, and builds the community that will sustain accountability throughout the 10 weeks.
For 10 consecutive weeks, each cohort meets for a 75-minute live session with their dedicated mentor. Central leadership delivery from Dr. Haughton is followed by structured small group mentorship, where concepts are applied, accountability is reinforced, and behavior begins to change. This is where the development actually happens.
At the program midpoint, mentors conduct individual progress check-ins with each student-athlete. The Regional Lead Mentor reviews all cohorts, addresses any performance concerns, and provides the athletic department with a mid-program summary. Development is monitored - not assumed.
The final session is a structured celebration of growth. Student-athletes present their personal leadership plans, reflect on their 10-week journey with their mentor, and receive their official HMI Certificate of Completion. This is not a formality - it is a milestone that reinforces identity and commitment.
All participants complete the post-program assessment. Data is analyzed and compared against baseline scores to quantify growth across every measured dimension - providing clear, evidence-based proof of development for both the athlete and the institution.
The institution receives a comprehensive Impact Report with aggregated data, individual growth summaries, key findings, and strategic recommendations for the next program cycle. A debrief session with the Athletic Department ensures the data is understood and acted upon.
Most leadership programs are one-time events. They inspire for a day and fade within a week. HMI is different because it is structured, sustained, and accountable. Ten weeks of consistent mentorship, with pre-and-post measurement, mentor oversight, and an institutional Impact Report - ensures that development is real, documented, and repeatable.
Every session is pre-designed, mentor-guided, and outcome-driven. Nothing is left to improvisation.
Ten consecutive weeks of mentorship builds habits, relationships, and behavioral change that a single event cannot.
Pre and post assessments, mentor oversight, and an institutional Impact Report ensure development is measured and verified.
An Institutional Briefing is all it takes to begin. No obligation. No pressure. Just a direct conversation about what your student-athletes need - and what a structured mentorship system can do for your program.
